"I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught." -- Georgia O'Keeffe
The high desert of Santa Fe has been calling to my soul lately so I'm following the gypsy winds home. My movers will be loading on October 31st and I'll be on a plane to Santa Fe on November 1st.
I believe there are some places your soul recognizes as home and Santa Fe is that place for me. There’s a mystique to Santa Fe that engages all the senses and is impossible to explain. It’s the simple things of everyday life… the warmth of sunlight on an adobe wall in spring, the crystal blue skies in summer, the breathtaking colors of the cottonwoods and aspens in autumn, and the smell of piñon and juniper smoke in winter. There’s a reason why so many artists call Santa Fe home. It’s hard not to be inspired every time you step out your door.
I started my latest series of Soul Artifacts, Magic in the Desert: Santa Fe Reflections as a way to exorcise my homesickness. But they ultimately led me home. Never underestimate the healing power of art.
So, join me on my journey as I continue to explore the unique culture and landscape of the City Different and the Land of Enchantment through my weavings.
