"I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught." -- Georgia O'Keeffe
The high desert of Santa Fe has been calling to my soul lately. So, on the New Moon of December 29th I started a new series, Magic in the Desert: Santa Fe Reflections.
There’s a mystique to Santa Fe that engages all the senses and is impossible to explain. It’s the simple things of everyday life… the warmth of sunlight on an adobe wall in spring, the crystal blue skies in summer, the breathtaking colors of the cottonwoods and aspens in autumn, and the smell of pinon and juniper smoke in winter. There’s a reason why so many artists call Santa Fe home. It’s hard not to be inspired every time you step out your door.
Each piece in this new series is woven with hand-dyed fibers from the artisans at Earth Guild, beads and artifacts I’ve collected during my travels, and one-of-a-kind dichroic glass cabochons and polymer clay elements created by myself and other artists.
So join me on my journey as I explore the unique culture and landscape of the City Different and the Land of Enchantment.
