The Transformative Energy of Spring

"River God"

Spring is finally here and with the longer days and warmer weather comes the urge to release everything that's been holding me back and to move into the light. I can throw open the windows and enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of birds singing which always seems to clear the cobwebs from my brain. Each Spring I start to see my life in a whole new light. Anything is possible.

So with a renewed focus, I'm back in my studio working on theSoul Ancestors series. These masks bring together everything I've been working with over the past 25 years... ceramics, embroidery, rubberstamping, polymer clay, collage, assemblage, weaving, printmaking, and beadwork. Mask making has always touched something deep in my soul so it's a blessing to be creating works that resonate with me on such a deep, primal level.

I've been working with an amazing artist lately who is also making huge changes in his life including a new direction for his artwork. It's always gratifying to work with artists who are willing to push beyond their established boundaries to try something new. And now it's your turn. Where do you need to initiate change? Your thoughts? Your habits? Your relationships? You have the power within you to accomplish miracles. All you have to do is look inside and commit to doing the work. It isn't always easy but it opens the door to the changes you need.
