Zen

It was a beautiful day in Santa Fe yesterday so I  took advantage of the nice weather and got out of my apartment. Other than the hair salon, yesterday was really the first time I've been out and about since December 28th. When you work at  home, it's easy to become a hermit. Especially in the winter. It was a nice day to wander so I made the rounds... Collected Works, the Plaza Cafe for breakfast, Tutto (they have some of the most beautiful hand-dyed yarns that are perfect for my needleweavings), and Ritual Adornments (where I bought the focal bead in the needleweaving above). Then I ventured up Canyon Road stopping in at some of the art galleries (not a lot of new art this time of year) to the Teahouse to meet one of the Match.com guys. It's probably not a good sign that as I was sitting there drinking my hibiscus tea I was hoping he would stand me up. And probably an even worse sign that after I left the Teahouse all I wanted to do was sit on the curb on Canyon Road and cry. But some days the only option is to cowgirl up so I headed home for a hot bath with a Lush Bath Bomb and a good book, Cowboys Are My Weakness.

They say it takes 21 days to build new habits so I've been a slave to my calendar this month as I get acclimated to my new schedule. I've found that I need to have a specific time set aside each day for meditation. Otherwise, I forget about it. So at 3 pm my iPhone chimes, I stop whatever I'm doing, light some incense, and I meditate for 15 minutes. I've been using the Abraham Hicks Getting Into the Vortex Guided Meditations. Tomorrow I start Yoga Download's 21 Day Yoga Challenge. Structure feels like what I need right now.
