My old laptop, the Inspiron 6000, came back from the Dell Repair Center today where they had to replace the LCD display. The paperwork accompanying the system said that they had tested the system "extensively" before returning it to me. So, I'm wondering how they managed to overlook the fact that it was taking 15 minutes for the laptop to boot which is usually indicative of a problem. After I had the laptop on for about an hour, I got the "blue screen of death" which neither I nor Dell Technical Support could resolve. The only solution was to re-format the hard drive. So, untold hours lost to setting up another laptop when I really need to be in the studio working. But, at least the re-format seems to have resolved the problem & now I have a spare laptop that I can use at school.
