Registration is finally open for the Fall semester at the SMFA so I signed up for the "Ceramics: Hand-Building & Construction" class being taught by Ji Eun Kim. Since I've been away from working with clay for so long (The clay workshop at the Boston Center for Adult Education just didn't work for me. It was way too restricitive & there just wasn't enough room in the studio to work.), I decided to start with a lower level class so I could refresh my memory on techniques, glazing, etc. The class will cover the various construction techniques & working with glazes in combination with porcelain, stoneware, earthenware, & colored clays. The most important part of the course description was, of course, "all techniques are open to personal interpretation". Maybe now I'll really be able to work on my masks & icons.
